Signal Needs a Purpose
Why information priority depends on the reader's task and the publication's evidence obligations.
Priority follows function
A headline is signal for orientation, a source link for verification, a rights notice for reuse, and a correction state for current reliability. Signal is not one permanently dominant visual element; it changes with the task.
Accountability cannot become background
Design should not make citations, uncertainty, ownership, or correction status practically invisible in order to preserve a cleaner surface.
